E made it to Hong Kong

E finally made it to Hong Kong.
These pictures sort of summarize what's been happening.

Chillin' at Silly Boo located in Tin Hau and catching up on some reading.

I lent E Unsaid by Neil Abramson and I am reading The Choice by Nicholas Sparks.

We also had our fair share of street food.
Jumbo sausage & duck breast

Skewered chicken wings, jumbo sausage, dragon's beard candy floss.

Assorted fruits with grass jelly, deep fried chicken, fish sui mai, assorted meat skewers and a peanut butter and condensed milk waffle.

The best thing about Hong Kong restaurants is that when they run out of seating space inside they just whip out some chairs and tables and put them on the side walk and viola! more seating space!

This was our detox solution to all the greasy food we have been munching on in the past month

Seafood Galore @ The Wet Market

What I love about Hong Kong is their open markets. I love how I can roam around the wet markets looking at all the different kinds of fresh seafood and being able to pick and choose what I want. E and I decided to make a seafood dinner at home instead of eating out (which we have done a lot of) we went to the wet market located in North Point where the harbour is. I cant exactly remember the location or how we found it because E and I kind of stumbled across it by walking towards the ocean and miraculously we found the "wet market by the harbour."

We took the North Point Tram, this will take you directly to the North Point Produce Market. It's quite fun to watch the the people scatter away because the Tram goes right through the market.

The joy of being able to pick and choose and haggle
at the wet market in North Point by he harbour.

So this is what we made, a one-pot-wonder. We stir-fry some giant prawns in garlic and ginger for a few seconds then poured in a cup of chicken stock and threw in the clams and let it all steam for about 6 minutes or until all the clams have opened up. We bought three different sizes of clams - giant, medium and small, they probably had fancy names, but it was all in Chinese.

Enjoy!

Cafe Eos in North Point

Cafe Eos

Shop 8, G/F., 42 Electric Rd, North Point

A quaint little cafe located in North Point that serves pastas and pizzas. The cafe was quite small but very cute. We decided to sit outside because we didn't want to be cramped up in a corner and the sun was out so why not soak up some sun along with some second smoke? (just kidding)

E and I shared an "Americana" Pizza and slices of Garlic Baguette topped with tomato, cheese and anchovies. Everything came out nice and hot the anchovies added a nice touch to the baguette. The thin crust pizza was good much better than what I had at Pizza Hut (gross don't go there, at least not when your in Hong Kong)
I think what I loved best was their Iced Milk Tea. E and I both agree that it had just the right amount of richness and the tea they used tasted quite different from some of the other local restaurants we've been to. I would definitely go back to Cafe Eos just for their milk teas!

Bye for now.

I packed a very limited wardrobe for my 3 month stay in Hong Kong, so that means I can shop and get a little bit creative with my outfits.

Morihachi Yakiniku 盛八日式燒肉店

Morihachi Yakiniku

盛八日式燒肉店

3/F, Ying Kong Mansion, 2-6 Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay

Slices of marinated beef, pork, lamb chops, beef tongue.

Oh Morihachi! They serve cold and hot Japanese tapas and they also offer a variety of meats for barbecuing  and during weekdays from 9:30 pm to 1:00 am they offer 50% off drinks and 20% off food. Morihachi is located in Causeway Bay and conveniently just on the same block as our apartment, so the three of us decided to check it out. I personally think it was the "50% off drinks" that caught the boys' attention.

So in our attempt to have a well-balanced meal, we ordered some salads and tofu. We had a garden salad, mixed mushroom platter, cold tofu in a spicy sauce with a soft boiled egg and a tomato and scallion salad. I personally enjoyed myself at Morihachi, but even with the 20% off food it can get pretty pricey because the dishes were all very dainty except for the garden salad of course. Would I go back to Morihachi? Probably, but not on an empty stomach because I know I would over order. Oh and its probably not a good idea to go to Morihachi with two hungry boys, even with their discount.

Someone had to stop at Tsiu Wah for a hot dog. Like I said hungry boys!
Bye for now.

Ana Sushi 穴

Ana Sushi  穴

5/F, Kyoto Plaza, 491-499 Lockhart Road Causeway Bay

Happy Birthday T!

& another shout out to Becky Lee, congratulations on your beautiful wedding T and I both wish you the very best and we hope to see you with a puppy very soon. By the way you looked stunning in that dress

Omakase (お任せ)

We decided it was best to just leave it up to the chef to be creative for us, because with almost 2.5 Liters of sake between the 4 of us I could barely steady my camera to take pictures of each dish, let alone order from the vast menu they had. All in all, the meal was absolutely amazing. It wowed all my senses and I am proud to say that my sushi cravings are finally satisfied!
After many cups of sake I kind of stopped taking pictures, so in no particular order and refering back to our bill this was what the chef created for us: Sashimi - Toro, Hamachi, Hound Fish but sometimes refered to as Needle Fish, Scallop, Salmon Belly, Uni, Snapper, Peony Shrimp. Nigiri - Hamachi, Yellow Tail, Octopus, Fish Roe, Tuna, Salmon Belly, Crab Roe, Egg. Cones - Scallop Cone, Spicy Salmon Belly Cone, Toro Cone. Hot Food - Hokkaido Scallop & Uni Tempura, Deep Fried Shrimp Heads, Spicy Boiled Clams.

Green Tea Soba and Cold Udon

There was also an after party after all that sake.
Hope you had a wonderful night and may all your wishes come true on your birthday.

Bye for now.
